I am a cat lover! The
following pages are dedicated to
cats, with an emphasis on the three I live with.
Quite some time ago I became obsessed by Japanese animation
and with that Japanese culture. The Japanese word for cat is neko.
After the heartbreak involved with the passing of Boris, my wonderful
"mixed breed"
cat, I purchased my first Japanese Bobtail, Taki. The Japanese Bobtail can be traced back to the reign of
Emperor Idi-Jo (986-1011). Prior to that time cats were not native to
Japan. The Bobtails were a gift from Korea and the Emperor named the
cats "O-Koman" which means very honorable Koreans. Over the
centuries the name was abbreviated to "neko".
